Nestled in the heart of Jamtara, Jharkhand, Grace Mission Hospital is an upcoming Christian mission hospital dedicated to providing compassionate, affordable, and accessible healthcare. Rooted in Christ’s love, our mission is to serve the underserved by offering holistic healing—body, mind, and spirit—to individuals and families in need.
Our journey has just begun. With the hospital building currently under construction, we are preparing to launch with outpatient and emergency services, laying the foundation for a healthier and more hopeful future in the region.

History
Grace Mission Hospital is an offshoot of the historic Jamtara Mission, which has served the community for over 160 years. The mission began in 1863 when Mr. William S. Body and his wife Ellen laid the foundation for a legacy of spiritual, educational, and medical upliftment in Jamtara and its surrounding areas.
In the decades that followed, the mission was carried forward by Mr. Edward Cornelius and other dedicated leaders. Their work focused on providing medical care to the needy, supporting the marginalized, and caring for lepers. The mission’s impact was profound—they stood with the people of Jamtara through devastating outbreaks of cholera and leprosy and helped communities survive the ravages of famines with unwavering love and care.
The hospital is named after Miss Grace E. George, the last foreign missionary of the Jamtara Mission. Grace came to India as a spinster and remained unmarried, dedicating her entire life to serving the people of Jamtara. She ran a dispensary for lepers and the poor, embodying a life of selfless service and compassion. Her unwavering dedication and humble spirit continue to inspire the mission behind Grace Mission Hospital today.
